Facebook's rules for hiring ads, explained for home care agencies
If you've tried boosting a caregiver job post and it got rejected or reached the wrong people, this is probably why.
What the Employment category means
Meta requires anyone advertising a job opening in the US to mark the ad as an Employment ad. It's part of how Meta avoids hiring discrimination. Once the category is on, several targeting tools are locked.
| You can't | What that means for home care |
|---|---|
| Target by age or gender | The ad can reach any adult in the area |
| Target by ZIP code | You pick a city or address plus a radius instead |
| Use a radius under 15 miles | Plan your service area in wider circles |
| Use many detailed interests and demographics | Filtering happens in the ad copy and the form |
Skipping the category isn't a shortcut. Meta can reject the ad or restrict your ad account.
Watch the wording too
Job ads also fall under employment law. Phrases that hint at a preferred age, gender or background can get the ad rejected, and they create legal risk. Describe the job and the requirements instead of the person.
What still works
Let the ad copy do the targeting
A line like "Now hiring certified HHAs, weekend shifts, $18 an hour" pulls in the right people and makes the wrong ones scroll past.
Screen inside the application
Facebook's instant forms let you ask multiple-choice questions about certification, transportation and availability. Your recruiter sees the answers before calling.
Test several ads
Since you can't narrow the audience much, the creative carries the weight. Run a few versions, keep the one with the lowest cost per qualified applicant and replace the rest.
This page is general information, not legal advice. Meta updates its policies, so check Meta's current advertising standards before you launch.

Common questions
Why did Facebook reject my caregiver job ad?
The most common reasons are not selecting the Employment special ad category, targeting by age, gender or ZIP code, or wording that suggests a preference for a certain kind of person.
Can I boost a job post from my Facebook Page?
Yes, but it still has to follow the Employment category rules, and boosting gives you fewer options than running the ad in Ads Manager.
What's the minimum radius for Facebook job ads?
For US Employment ads, location targeting needs a radius of at least 15 miles around the city or address you choose.
